Villa D'Este - Tivoli, Italy
2015
The exhibition told the scrupulous study and research work of Maestro Franco Zeffirelli, showing the process and creative spirit of Maestro that inevitably usually remained behind the scene.
The theatrical successes in greatest opera houses around the world as well as the international film productions have been told through sketches made with different techniques, study models, costumes, stage jewels, photos and paintings by the Maestro. All this material, a personal warehouse of dreams transformed into art, largely unpublished and now integral part of Zeffirelli’s Museum in San Firenze complex in Florence of which this exhibition represented the preview, tells well the sensitivity of an artist, his taste for beauty, his way of expressing himself in the art of entrainment.
The exhibition is divided into five rooms that chronologically trace evolution of Maestro’s career. Stepped platforms displayed original costumes and on the walls sketches told process in developing ideas. Beige backdrops were placed for an attitude of respect to both location and material exhibited.
